Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left Dhaka for Riyadh on a four-day visit at the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the custodian of the two holy mosques.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Saudi capital Riyadh at 3.45 pm on Sunday.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister SM Shahjahan Kamal, Prime Minister's Information Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam bid farewell to the Prime Minister at the airport.
The Cabinet Secretary, the heads of the three forces, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and senior civil and military officers were present at the time.
The flight is scheduled to arrive at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh at 7pm (local time). The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with the leaders of the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) and the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce in his suite tomorrow, Wednesday. In the afternoon of the same day, Sheikh Hasina will meet King Salman at the Saudi Royal Palace and later attend lunch.
The Prime Minister will meet with the Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. Later he will inaugurate the Bangladesh Chancery Building in the diplomatic area of Riyadh, the Saudi capital.
The Prime Minister will leave Riyadh tomorrow evening by air for the holy city of Madinah and will observe the fast of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) at the Masjid an-Nabawi.
The Prime Minister will reach Jeddah on Thursday and lay the foundation stone of the Bangladesh Consulate General's Chancery Building there. Sheikh Hasina will perform the holy Umrah in Makkah after Esha prayer. The Prime Minister will leave for the country on Friday morning. Source: Bass
