In Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur, 5 houses were robbed. At that time, a dacoit named Abul Hossain was killed and a villager named Mujibul Haque Majhi was seriously injured by the dacoit's sharp weapon. The incident took place in Char Kadira village of Kamalnagar upazila late on Thursday night. However, the police claimed that the incidents of robbery were cases of theft. On Friday afternoon, the police filed a murder case against 150 unidentified villagers in the Kamalnagar police station. It is known that there are numerous cases against the deceased dacoit Sardar Abul Hossain in various police stations of Noakhali and Lakshmipur including murder, robbery, torture of women. The injured Mujibul Haque is currently undergoing treatment at Noakhali Medical College Hospital, his relatives said.
According to the police and local residents, a group of 15/16 robbers led by the dacoit Sardar Abul Hossain from Andarchar area of Noakhali started robbery at Simantavarti Charkadira area of Lakshmipur district around 2 o'clock on Thursday night. At that time, they robbed 5 houses including Abdur Rashid's house of Abdur Rab's father's house, Hossain Ahmed's house in his house, Hasan's house of Sufia's father's house, Nashir Ahmed's house and Siraj Majhi's house. At that time, the robbers looted about 4 lakhs worth of goods including cash and gold ornaments from 5 houses. When the robbers last robbed Siraj Majhi's house, a neighbor named Mujibul Haque came forward and the robbers cut him with a sharp weapon and seriously injured him. At that time, when the villagers ran from all sides, the robbers fled, and the villagers arrested a robber named Abul Hossain and handed him over to the local village police. On receiving the information in the morning, Kamalnagar police went to the spot and rescued seriously injured dacoit Abul Hossain and villager Mujibal Haque and took them first to Kamalnagar health complex and later to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. Injured Mujibul Haque has been sent to Noakhali Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Monir Hossain, village police of local Char Kadira Union, told Palli News that on Thursday late night, a group of dacoits robbed 5/6 houses of Ward No. 5 of that union, while the local villagers caught the dacoit Sardar Abul Hossain and handed him over to me. When I reported the matter to the Kamalnagar Police Station, in the morning, Sub-Inspector Md. Salim came from the police station and took away the dacoit Abul Hossain. I heard that he was first given first aid at Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex and then taken to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The officer in charge of Kamalnagar police station claimed that the robbery was a case of theft and said that no one had complained about the robbery in 5 houses. We will investigate the matter. However, police SI Md Salim filed a case against 150 unknown villagers as a plaintiff in the case of the death of dacoit Abul Hossain.
