No additional fee or penalty will be required for re-issuance of expired e-passport and MRP (Machine Readable Passport).
This information was announced on the official Facebook page of the Department of Immigration and Passports on Tuesday (September 8).
Earlier, a penalty of Rs 345 (including 15 per cent VAT) per year was required to re-issue an expired passport. A new passport could then be applied for.
According to the new announcement of the passport department, this additional fee and money is no longer required.
At the same time, the department's Facebook page also informed that minors from zero to 17 years and citizens over 65 years of age will receive a 48-page passport for five years. Citizens of this age group should check the amount before submitting the passport application fee.
