The procession organized by Jubo Dal in Lakshmipur to protest against the verdict against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarek Rahman was chased by the police. At least 5 activists were injured.
The incident took place on Sunday (October 14) in the city's Alia Madrasah area. Earlier, the procession started from North Temuhani under the banner of District Youth Party.
It is known that a protest march was organized by the District Youth Party to protest against the verdict against party leaders including Tariq Rahman. When the procession started and went to Aliya Madrasa area, a team of patrolling police chased the activists. At least 5 activists were injured. Party leaders did not reveal their names due to security reasons.
District Youth Party President Rezaul Karim Liton, Vice President Khaled Mohammad Ali Kiran, Organizing Secretary Sourav Hossain Bhulu, Sadar (West) Upazila Youth Party President Milan Mahmud, former student leaders Shamchul Ahsan Mamun and Jewel were present in the procession.
Meanwhile, at the same time, another separate protest march was taken out from Dakshin Temuhani of the city under the leadership of Syed Rashidul Hasan Lincoln, General Secretary of the District Youth Party. Saiful Islam Shahin, former general secretary of the district youth party and Abdul Alim Humayun, president of the Laxmipur municipal youth party, were present in it.
