Syed Jahangir Alam, Mayor of Dinajpur Municipality and Joint Organizing Secretary of Rangpur Division of BNP, has been suspended.
The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives informed this information through a notification on Wednesday evening.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has also been requested to take legal action against Syed Jahangir in the notification signed by Mohammad Farooq Hossain, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry's Local Government Division, Town-1 Branch.

In another letter of the Ministry sent to the ACC Secretary, as the seven allegations of the investigation report against Mayor Jahangir have been proved, legal action has been taken against him.
In this regard, Jahangir Alam said, I do not know anything about the dismissal. In 2012 and 2015, ACC investigated and exonerated me. I will be exempted from this complaint. The government sent me to jail for forgery of 1 kg 400 grams of rice. My only crime is that I am a BNP member and I am being slandered as a mayor elected from BNP.
