Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash has demanded the unmasking of Ziaur Rahman by forming an independent investigation commission.
He said, the hands of this Ziaur Rahman are stained with the blood of many freedom fighter army officers including Sheikh Jamal. So when Ziaur Rahman's BNP leaders talk about democracy and human rights, they seem very shameless.
He said this in the president's speech at a discussion meeting organized by Jubo League on the occasion of Sheikh Jamal's 71st birthday at the Dhaka District Awami League office today.
Housing and Public Works Minister RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury was present as the chief guest in the discussion. Ajay Das Gupta, distinguished journalist with Ekushey Medal, Zafar Wazed, distinguished journalist with Ekushey Medal and General Secretary of Dhaka District Awami League Paniruzzaman Tarun were present as special guests. Alhaj Alhaj, general secretary of Awami Jubo League conducted the event. Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil.
Remembering the late young freedom fighter, patriotic army officer, friend-soul and adventurous young man with respect. Not only did the army members who shed the blood of this freedom fighter army officer fail to prosecute them according to the army law, they are directly and indirectly involved in the murder of the army chief Safiullah and sub-senior chief Ziaur Rahman, Major Ziato Sheikh Jamal. An indication of which can be found in Ziaur Rahman's later activities. Major Zia's illegitimate government rewards murderers. Therefore, he demanded to unmask Ziaur Rahman through an independent commission of inquiry.
Sheikh Parash said that Sheikh Jamal was also under house arrest along with other family members during the Great Liberation War in 1971. Joining the liberation war became Sheikh Jamal's only goal and conviction. He escaped from captivity and joined the liberation war. Sheikh Jamal's escape from house arrest to war had a special political significance. Because Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib, a political visionary, in turn accused the occupying Pakistani forces of abducting her child. A stir around the world, foreign newspapers published that the Pakistan government has disappeared Sheikh Mujib's son. The news of Sheikh Jamal's escape and participation in the war was completely suppressed by the expatriate Mujibnagar government for strategic reasons, because the Pakistan government fell into great trouble in the international arena due to the intense collective pressure of the Mujibnagar government and the Indian government on this issue.
He also said that Sheikh Jamal's achievements are eternal in the course of history. History will not forgive us if his achievements are not brought before the nation. But writings, research and data about Sheikh Jamal are still scarce and what is being published is mostly repetition and simplification. Actual research is still sorely lacking. Sheikh Jamal is a brave warrior in the history of the great liberation war, a proud army officer of Bangladesh Army. Bangabandhu loved his army officers like children. His beloved Jamal had to die at the hands of a group of reckless army officers. This is the dramatic irony of Greek tragedy.
