Upazila Parishad Chairman Saidiputra Masood Saidi was the chief guest of the procession, parade, discussion meeting and freedom fighter honoring ceremony organized by Jianagar upazila administration on December 16.
This incident caused a storm of criticism on social media.
Pirojpur District Awami League General Secretary Hakim Howladar alleged that with the connivance of Police Station OC and Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Masood Saeedi was saluted in the parade and freedom fighters were given crests.
Upazila Chairman Masud Saidi was standing next to OC Md. Mizanul Haque, UNO Zakir Hossain Bachchu, Upazila Freedom Fighter Commander Belayet Hossain and Upazila Awami League President Matiur Rahman.
The Superintendent of Police said that he was withdrawn for administrative reasons.
