In Lakshmipur's Kamalnagar, the forest department has cut trees and set up factories manufacturing fake food and various food products in the name of unauthorized Sarat Food Products. Giyas Ahmed Sarat, the owner of Sarat Food Products, has been accused of cutting many official trees in front of the factory located next to the Upazila Animal Resources Office on the Ramgati-Laxmipur sub highway (Toaha Road).
Locals said Ghiyas Ahmed Sarat several sky moni and rain-tree trees were cut and burned in that factory. Locals also said that the supply of wood for the factory is provided by cutting all these trees of the forest department.
He is marketing Semai by imitating the wrapper of Janazaya Bonful & Co. All the products marketed in packs called Sarat Food Products have no date of manufacture, batch no. It is also known that the factory has no approval from BSTI, Department of Environment and related institutions. In the past, news about this fake factory has been published in national, local and online newspapers.
In this regard, members Mosleh Uddin and Nurul Amin said that despite repeatedly informing the ranch officer of the forest department about the matter of cutting trees, he did not take any action.
In this regard, Gias Ahmed Sarat (self-proclaimed Sarat) denied the matter of tree cutting and said, I am not a laborer who will cut trees?
Krishna Kamal Majumder, ranch officer of the upazila forest department, said, confirming the matter of tree cutting, he said that I found signs of tree cutting at the spot. In light of the question whether he has taken any action in this regard, he said I will talk later.
Assistant Conservator of Forests of Lakshmipur Forest Department Md Ali said that my ranch officer did not inform me about this.
