Vigilance meeting on hilsa conservation activities in Kamalnagar

A vigilance meeting was held at Kamalnagar in Lakshmipur on Hilsa conservation activities during the main breeding season. On Monday afternoon, the District Fisheries Office organized a vigilance meeting at the Charfalkon Ludhua Machghat area of the upazila. Under the chairmanship of fisheries inspector SM Mohib Ullah, the chief guest was Chalin, Deputy Commissioner Md. Zillur Rahman Chowdhury. Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shariful Islam, Kamalnagar Upajlo Chairman Ed. Syed Mohammad Samchul Alam, Executive Officer of Kamalnagar Upazila Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Molla. Kamalnagar Upazila Assistant Secondary Education Officer Touhidul Islam was present and Sramik League leader Ed. Anwarul Haque, Kamalnagar Upazila Fisheries Officer Ibrahim Hamid Shahin, Thana Acting Inspector (OC) Mohammad Kabir Ahmed, Charfalcon UP Chairman Haji Harunur Rashid and District Fishery Samtiri President Md. Rafiqul Islam etc.
According to the District Fisheries Office sources, the government has designated the 100 km area from Shatanal in Chandpur to Ramgati Meghna River in Laxmipur as breeding ground for hilsa. All types of fishing in the river have been banned during the 22-day breeding season from October 12 to November 2. On this occasion, the District Fisheries Office inaugurated the fishermen by making leaflets, posters and miking. Apart from this, the electricity connection of all bore mills in the upazila has been disconnected, boats are not allowed to leave the canals adjacent to the river, Jalani oil supply has been stopped in the fish ghat area and fish ghats have been closed in the middle of the river.
