Pally News Dex:
In Lakshmipur Kamalnagar, Awami League leader Rafiq Chowdhury has been accused of embezzling the allowance of a helpless disabled person. The mother of mentally disabled Harun was physically tortured for protesting and returning the embezzled money. In this incident, Harun's mother Monowara Begum, a resident of Kalkini Union, filed a case in the Lakshmipur Senior Judicial Magistrate Amli Court (Case No. CR 376/2016).

Accused Awami League leader Rafiq Chowdhury is the organizing secretary of Kamalnagar Upazila Awami League and the president of Char Kalkini Union Awami League.

It was learned that Awami League leader Rafiq Chowdhury, through local Abu Taher's son Sabuj and Abdul Mannan's son Abdul Jalil, withdrew the disabled person's money from the Hat branch of Kadir Pandit Agricultural Bank and embezzled it.

Monowara Begum, the mother of disabled consumer Harun, said that her four sons and daughters are intellectually disabled. Among them, Harun's name was included in the list of disabled people (Book No. A 9-538 of the Ministry of Social Welfare). 3,000 taka was taken from me to include his name in the list. But even though the allowance money arrived, we did not receive any news. Later, when I went to the bank, I found out that on July 1 last year, June 3 this year and September 7, a total of 6,000 taka in three installments were taken from the bank by local Sabuj and Jalil under the orders of Awami League leader Rafiq Chowdhury, using fake tips. On September 8, when I went to Rafiq Chowdhury for the money, he did not return the money and beat me up in public. In this incident, I filed a case in court against Rafiq Chowdhury, Sabuj and Jalil. Since filing the case, he has been threatening me with people. Even after filing the case, I did not get justice even after a long time.

An official of the Hat branch of the Agricultural Bank of Kadir Pandit said that Sabuj and Jalil made the disabled people stand under the bank, signed the tip on the book and bank voucher, and withdrew money from the cash themselves. During the withdrawal, they said that Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury sent them to the bank.

When asked about the matter, accused Jalil said, "I will meet with him later." The other accused Sabuj denied the matter and said, "I have not withdrawn any money from the disabled."

Rafiqul Chowdhury said the allegations of embezzlement and beatings are false and that he is not involved in any of these incidents.

Master Saif Ullah, Chairman of Char Kalkini Union Parishad, said that Rafiq Chowdhury took 8 books from me under the political quota and that he did not know anything about embezzlement.

The investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Hazirhat Investigation Center Md. Jalal Uddin, said that the matter is being investigated and a report will be submitted after the investigation.
