A website, www.redobd.com which was setup by a Mohammad Ismail Hossain, to negatively influence the 7/01/2024 elections in Bangladesh by spreading Western propaganda against Sheikh Hasina, is now the subject of a police investigation. Following discovery of the website by Chhatra League online activists, evidence was handed to the police of the identity of this person. According to Chhatra League, this person is already wanted in Bangladesh, and this has now been confirmed by online media reports, and the police. According to the police, Mr Hossain is already wanted for criminal offences committed in 2020, and they are now looking to arrest Mr Hossain, who is currently overseas, for an arrestable offence under the Cyber Security Act 2023, which does not require an arrest warrant.
