Kamalnagar Upazila of Lakshmipur organized special prayers and prayers to prevent the Meghna from breaking. In this, the new UNO of the upazila, Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla, participated in a special prayer and prayer in the court of Allah to prevent the erosion of the Meghna.
After visiting the upazila's erosion-damaged Kadirpandit's Hut area on Sunday, he participated in the special prayer and prayer organized at the remaining part of the Kadirpandit's Hut Darus Salam Jame Mosque, which collapsed in the river.
Maulana Hafez Faiz Ahmed, the imam of the mosque led the prayers and prayers.
After that, the newly appointed Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla exchanged views with the locals.
Kamalnagar Upazila Assistant Education Officer Md. Tauhidul Islam and Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mohammad Ibrahim Hamid Shahin were present.
Incidentally, on Wednesday (October 19) night, everything except the balcony of the two-storey building of the upazila's hundred-year-old traditional Qadir Pandit's Hat Darus Salam Jame Masjid was destroyed by the Meghna landslide. Local worshipers now pray on the remaining balcony of the mosque. At any moment that part can also collapse. The river Meghna has been breaking for four long years. Eight bazaars, 19 educational institutions, five cyclone shelters, many public and private establishments, crop lands, and houses have disappeared in Meghna in the terrible erosion of the past eight-10 years.
