The Ministry of Education has once again written to the Finance Ministry asking for an allocation of Tk 709 crore to pay 20 percent Boishakhi allowance and 5 percent increment to MPO teachers. On November 5, a letter was sent from the Department of Secondary and Higher Education to the Ministry of Finance. Several officials of the Ministry of Education confirmed this information on Wednesday (November 7).
It is known that the Ministry of Education has asked for allocation of Tk 531 crore 82 lakh and Tk 177 crore 27 lakh to give 20 percent Baisakhi allowance to the teachers belonging to MPO of private educational institutions.
Earlier, on May 8, a DO was sent to the Finance Minister seeking budget allocation of Tk 709 crore for 5 percent annual increment and 20 percent Boishakhi allowance from the Ministry of Education. But no decision has been announced by the finance department in this regard. Meanwhile, the election time for the 11th National Assembly is approaching. In view of this, a letter was again sent from the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Finance on November 5. In the letter, the Ministry of Education has requested the Ministry of Finance to allocate a total of Tk 709 crore including Tk 531 crore 82 lakh to pay 5 percent increment and Tk 177 crore 27 lakh to pay 20 percent Baisakhi allowance to teachers belonging to MPO of private educational institutions.
However, the general secretary of the Independence Teachers' Council, Principal Md. Shahjahan Alam Saju said on Wednesday (November 7), that the teachers will soon receive the Baisakhi allowance and increment. In response to the question, Shahjahan Saju said, the money is there, only the permission is given for one hour's work
