On the first day of the 48-hour strike by transport workers, there were allegations of burning and smearing ink on the drivers and passengers of various private cars in the capital. In continuation of this, this time in Narayanganj, the agitating transport workers attacked and vandalized the bus carrying the students of the Government Women's College and covered the driver and the students with burnt rags.
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon near a pump in the signboard area of Dhaka Narayanganj Link Road. Later the bus was stopped there and was not allowed to continue.
The students said that while crossing the signboard area around 12 noon, the workers suddenly stopped the bus and beat the driver and covered his face with burnt mobil. Later, when they protested against the incident, some students were also covered with burnt mobiles by the workers. He also started abusing in unspeakable language. Later some glass of the bus was broken and everyone got off the bus.
The driver of the bus, Mujibur Rahman, told reporters that there were 38 students in the bus. All of them are studying in Govt Women's College. When the bus carrying the student came to the signboard area, the workers attacked and broke the glass of the bus. Later, the students were also smeared with burnt mobil.
Narayanganj Government Women's College Principal Bedora Binte Habiba said, the driver told me the incident. There the workers broke a few glasses and there was a little trouble with the girls. They were also given burnt mobiles. The bus has been kept aside for now, I will know the details when the bus returns to the college.
At the same time, some ambulances in Siddhirganj did not have patients, so the workers covered the burnt mobiles. Abdullah, the driver of an ambulance, said that he was going to bring patients. If you want to bring a patient, you have to go empty-handed. But without hearing his words, the workers filled the outside of the ambulance with ink and burnt coal.
