Trump can be trapped now?

US President Trump is under pressure again after two former advisers have pleaded guilty. Their confessions could put the president at risk.

Wednesday was not a good day for US President Donald Trump. Fears are intensifying that two of his former advisers have been implicated in separate criminal charges and could implicate him. Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and the president's former personal lawyer, Michael Coyne, pleaded guilty to multiple charges in two separate courts around the same time.

Coyne also admitted that in 2016, Donald Trump ordered him to commit crimes as a presidential candidate.

Coyne said Trump wanted to silence two women with money after they claimed to have had extramarital affairs with Trump.

Trump, however, has been denying allegations of illicit relations with these two women. His current lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said the two women were paid to save the Trump family from embarrassment. It has nothing to do with the presidential election. However, Cohen's statement in court left the president extremely uncomfortable.

Manafort and Coyne are likely to go to prison after pleading guilty. But because of these two people, it is estimated that Trump may face more problems. Their admissions could change the course of the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

It could reveal valuable information about whether the Trump team was involved in Russian collusion and whether Trump fired James Comey as head of the FBI to obstruct the legal process. Robert Muller, the head of the investigative team, gathers all the evidence to put the president in a difficult position.

Trump is also under pressure in other ways as once-close associates have been convicted of crimes. There are growing fears that these events may affect support for the Republican Party in the upcoming parliamentary elections. In that case, the path to the dominance of the opposition Democratic party in the parliament will be smooth and Trump will face obstacles even if he is in power. There may even be attempts to depose him.

If Trump doesn't impeach himself before the midterm elections in November, he can claim to supporters that he himself is the victim of a conspiracy. He is still calling the investigation into Russian meddling the biggest conspiracy in US history.

In such a context, the president's lawyers are also extremely uncomfortable. In the past, the President ignored their advice and made some comments on Twitter, which could ultimately be detrimental to him. They are afraid that under the pressure of new pressure, Trump can make such stupid comments in anger. Source: Deutsche Welle
