Expatriate's wife killed while stopping robbery in Lakshmipur, arrested 2

Laxmipur: A double 'robbery' took place at the house of an expatriate in East Dharmapur village of Tewariganj Union of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. The robbers killed Zakera Begum alias Sunduri (52), wife of the expatriate, when she stopped. This incident happened on Thursday (July 14) around 2:30 am. A young man named Jasim and daughter-in-law Sharmin have been arrested by the police on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Deceased Zakera Begum is the wife of Dubai expatriate Ruhul Amin of Mendi Mia house in Dharmapur village. He lived at home with his daughter-in-law Sharmin and a grandson.
Locals said that a group of masked robbers entered the house by breaking the roof door of a one-story house. When the expatriate's wife stopped him, he killed him. Later, the robbers ran away with cash and gold ornaments by breaking the cupboard of the house.
Local UP member (Member) Md Shahjahan confirmed the matter and said that a young man named Jasim from Manik village of Adhar, was arrested by the local crowd and handed over to the police. In the morning, the police took the deceased's daughter-in-law Sharmin to the police station for initial questioning.
Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Deepak Kumar said that the police went to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. However, he said that nothing can be said regarding the investigation of the murder.
