Palli News Dex: The plot allocated in the name of Jamaat Amir Matiur Rahman Nizami and Party Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, who was hanged against humanity in 1971, has been cancelled. Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain said this after a ceremony at the Secretariat today. These two war criminals also built multi-storied buildings. An organization named Mission Development Limited, associated with Jamaat, built multi-storied buildings on these plots.
In the meeting room of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, the Minister told reporters at the signing ceremony of the agreement with the private Standard Chartered Bank that the plots or flats allotted to the war criminals will be given their share by the development company. The remaining part will be taken by the government. However, it is not known whether any notification has been issued in this regard. However, it is not known exactly how many people have been canceled. A source in the ministry said that the plot allocation of at least two people has been cancelled. One of them is Matiur Rahman Nizami and another is Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
Civil society has been demanding the cancellation of allotment in their name ever since the death sentence was passed for crimes against humanity.
At the end of the coalition government, Nizami and Mujahid were allotted these two plots in Banani and Uttara of the capital as 'recognition of state work'.
Motiur Rahman Nizami grabbed this plot of five rows at No. 60, Street No. 18, Banani through Rajuk on May 21, 2006. The plot was allotted in the name of Azizur Rahim in 1995, which was canceled to Nizami.
Azizur Rahim, the previous allottee of the plot which was allotted to Nizami, complained to the secretary of the Ministry of Works and the investigation started.
Even after Azizur Rahim paid an installment of three lakh against that plot, it was allotted to Nizami.
Nizami, after getting the plot, filed an application in the name of Mission Developers Limited run by Jamaat leaders, which is not allowed as per Rajuk rules.
The house number 18 of J Block in Banani Jhilpad is called 'Mission Nahar'. The building is named after Shamsun Nahar Nizami's wife - Nahar.
Rajuq allotted a five katha plot to Jamaat Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, who was hanged on charges of war crimes, 'in recognition of his special contribution to state work'.
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid built a six-storey building on this five-story plot in Uttara during the previous BNP-Jamaat coalition government.
Besides, a plot was allotted in Purbachal in the name of Jamaat's Nayeb Amir and Delawar Hossain Sayedi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment.
