In the alleged gunfight with the police in Ramganj of Lakshmipur. A robber named Haroon was shot dead. Two members of the police named Ushatan Chakma and Neshar Ahmed were injured.
The gun battle took place in Khwad Master Bridge area of Kashinagar village of the upazila late on Monday night. Police recovered 2 LGs, 6 rounds of bullets, 2 ramadas and a kirich from the spot.
Haroon, who was shot, has been admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital; He is undergoing treatment under police guard. He has bullet marks below his right knee. He is the son of Sharbat Ali of Kashinagar village in Ramganj. Two injured policemen were also treated at the same hospital.
According to the police, a group of robbers was staying in Kashinagar village of Ramganj upazila at night. Based on such news, the police went to the area for an operation. When the robbers sensed the presence of the police, they opened fire. The police also fired a few rounds in self-defence. A robber named Haroon was shot and two policemen were injured. 2 LGs, 6 rounds of bullets, 2 ramadas and a kirich were recovered from the spot. The injured robber and policeman were rescued and admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramganj police station Tota Mia confirmed the truth of the incident and told the top news that dacoit member Harun is an absconding accused in two warrant cases.
