The Board of Directors of Summit Group, one of the country's leading infrastructure developers, has approved the appointment of Zafar Ummid Khan as Chairman of Summit Oil and Shipping Company Limited (SOSCL) and Latif Khan as Chairman of Summit Power Limited (SPL), a listed company, as part of a strategic change in the company's leadership. Both of them were previously working as vice-chairmen of the companies respectively.
Regarding this important decision, Muhammad Aziz Khan said, 'Being able to contribute to the infrastructure development of Bangladesh through the summit is one of the best achievements of my life. I have been planning a change in leadership responsibilities for the past decade. As part of this initially we brothers involved our children in the business and my brothers were serving as Vice-Chairman of the organization. I turn 70 this year and it is a good time to welcome new leadership. As the country's largest infrastructure developer, we are always aware of our responsibility towards the country and the nation. I humbly seek prayers and support from all for the successful journey of the new leadership.'
Zafar Ummid Khan said, 'My chairman has handed over the chairmanship of Summit Oil and Shipping to me. I hope to be able to pass this institution on to the next generation in a more successful state, that is my main goal now.'
Latif Khan said, 'We will serve in the new position under the guidance of our dear elder brother and founding chairman. I am personally committed to Aziz Bhai and the Summit.'
Meanwhile, among the brothers, Farid Khan is serving as the chairman of Summit Communications Limited and Summit Towers Limited from December 28, 2021 and May 30, 2022 respectively.
Muhammad Aziz Khan, founder chairman of Summit Group, will serve as chairman of Summit Corporation Limited, the holding company of Summit's power generation companies, and Summit Power International of Singapore.
