Recently, Shahid Afridi took charge as the chief selector of Pakistan cricket team. His first assignment was the upcoming New Zealand series. Afridi made changes to the Pakistan team for this two-Test series. Two pacers Shahnewaz Dahani and Mir Hamza and off-spinner Sajid Khan have been added to the team to increase the bowling strength.
Afridi said about the matter, 'We have discussed about the squad. Everyone agreed that our bowling department needs to be stronger to create maximum chances of taking 20 wickets in the match. By adding three additional bowlers, Babar Azam will get a chance to think of more options to prepare the best team for the first Test. I am confident about this.'
Sajid is the most experienced of the three bowlers. He played seven Tests and took 22 wickets. He was also in the squad for the home Test against Australia. Recently, Sajid took 21 wickets for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy.
Hamza is getting a chance to play the second Test of his career. He has not worn white since his debut against Australia in October 2018. Although Dahani played white ball cricket in Pakistan jersey, he was not seen in red ball.
