On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the Constitution and the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bank has printed new commemorative bank notes in the denomination of 50 taka. This information was informed in a circular of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially release the note on Sunday (December 18). From next Monday (December 19), the new commemorative note will be available at Bangladesh Bank's Motijheel office and later at other branch offices.
The commemorative note measuring 130 mm × 60 mm, signed by the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Abdur Rauf Talukdar, has Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the left side of the obverse, Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan in the background and the Golden Jubilee logo of the Constitution and the Supreme Court on the right side.
Printed on 100 percent cotton paper, the Tk 50 commemorative note has a 2 mm wide security thread to the right of Bangabandhu's portrait on the obverse side and 'Portrait of Bangabandhu', '50' and 'Bangladesh Bank Monogram' are printed as watermarks on the right side of the note. Besides, varnish coating has been added on both sides of the note.
Separate folders containing Bengali and English literature have been prepared for the Rs 50 commemorative note. The price of commemorative note with only envelope without folder is fixed at Tk 50 and the price of commemorative note with folder and envelope is fixed at Tk 100.
