Urgent measures are demanded to protect the health of climate-dangerous women

Civil society representatives have demanded urgent measures to protect the health of women who are at risk of climate change.

The National Committee to Celebrate Rural Women's Day made this demand in a virtual press conference on Friday. Members Tamanna Rahman, Masuda Farooq Ratna, Manju Ara Begum, Mustafa Kamal Akand and Syed Aminul Haque spoke at the press conference chaired by Shamima Akhtar, the chairperson of the committee.

The speakers said, due to salinity, abortion of women is increasing on the coast. Unable to afford long-term treatment, most marginalized women consider hysterectomy as a permanent solution. In such a reality, it is necessary to take a special plan for the people of this region.
