The 73rd founding anniversary of Awami League was celebrated on Thursday through various programs. On this occasion, flag hoisting, tributes, joyous processions, discussion meetings, Milads, doa mahfils and other programs are undertaken all over the country including the capital Dhaka.
Awami League's day program started with the hoisting of national and party flags at the party's central and countrywide offices at sunrise. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhavan at 32 Dhanmondi in the morning. After offering the wreath, he stood in silence for a while paying respect to the memory of Bangabandhu. Later, Sheikh Hasina paid another round of respect to the portrait of the Father of the Nation on behalf of the party as Awami League president along with the senior leaders of the party.
Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu, Presidium Member Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Birvikram, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul-Alam Hanif, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain, Advocate Afzal Hossain, SM Kamal Hossain, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap and others were present.
After the Prime Minister left the Bangabandhu Bhavan premises, the place was thrown open for people from all walks of life to pay their respects. At this time one by one Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League, Women's Awami League, Jatiya Sramik League, Farmers League, Jubo League, Volunteer League, Jubo Women's League, Chhatra League, Tanti League, Fishermen's League, Independence Doctors Parishad, Bangabandhu Awami Lawyers Parishad, Bangabandhu Leaders and activists of various parties and organizations including Parishad, Bangabandhu Cultural Alliance paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu.
On the occasion of the founding anniversary, a discussion meeting was held at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue at the initiative of Awami League. Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting from Ganobhaban through video conference and addressed the meeting.
Apart from this, as part of the central program, at 11 o'clock on this day, member of the presidium of the Awami League, Lieut. A delegation of central leaders led by Colonel (retd) Farooq Khan paid homage at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation at Tungipara.
