Lankan former cricketer is begging for food in the streets due to the crisis of his countrymen

Sri Lanka is currently struggling with severe economic crisis. The country is in dire need of food, fuel and medicine. The citizens of the country are suffering greatly. In this situation, some capable citizens of the country are coming forward in public service on their own initiative. For example, former cricketer Roshan Mahanama was seen selling tea and bun roti on the street in public service. 

The former cricketer shared a picture on his Twitter page. Where seen, at a petrol station in Colombo handing out tea and bon roti to Sri Lankans waiting in long crooked queues for petrol.

Sri Lanka is going through the worst economic crisis in the country's history. The country does not have the dollars to import even essential commodities. Due to this, the country recently fell into a major political crisis. As a result, Mahinda Rajapakse resigned from the post of Prime Minister. This broke the cabinet. Currently, the new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the new cabinet are trying to overcome the economic crisis. 

Roshan Mahanama wrote on Twitter, "As part of community meal share in the evening, we distributed tea and bun bread to people waiting for petrol around Ward Place and Wijerama Mawatha. Day by day the queues of people are getting longer and there are many health risks of people standing in queues for a long time.

Sri Lanka has deployed armed police and army to guard filling stations. The country's government has announced the closure of schools and government institutions for two days a week to get some relief from the ongoing crisis and to conserve fuel reserves. 

Roshan Mahanama also wrote in the tweet, "You will take care of each other while waiting in line for fuel. Take enough liquid and dry food with you and if you are sick, call the person next to you or call 1990 for help. We need to take care of each other during these difficult times.
