A boat carrying 185 Rohingya arrived in Indonesia

A boat carrying at least 185 Rohingya refugees has arrived in Indonesia's northern province of Aceh after weeks at sea. BBC reported this news about human rights activists and police.

On Monday the boat arrived at Uzong Pi village. 57 Rohingyas were allowed to disembark in another part of Aceh province on Christmas Eve.
Aceh police spokesman Winardi said the boat was carrying 83 adult men, 70 women and 32 children.

In a video shared by a local resident on social media, Rohingya asylum seekers including children were seen lying on the beach. They looked very weak and tired.

Chris Leya of the Arakan Project, which supports the Rohingyas, said that the boat carrying more than 150 Rohingyas could not be found, and it was feared that the boat had sunk. The same boat arrived in Indonesia on Monday.

The United Nations refugee agency UNHCR says that the Rohingya journey at sea risk has increased this year compared to 2021. The organization called on governments in the region to rescue them.

At least 20 Rohingya have died at sea in recent weeks, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). They said this on Tuesday after hundreds of Rohingya landed in Indonesia in several boats in two months.
