499 people were raped in 6 months across the country

In the report made on the news published in 14 newspapers, Maleka Banu said, '2537 women and girls were victims of torture from January to June 2016. 499 women and girls were raped, including 64 gang rapes. And 15 people were killed after the rape. Apart from this, 80 people were tried to rape during this time.

In the statement, he said, '61 people were molested during this period. 57 people were victims of sexual violence. 19 people got acid burns. There were 43 fire incidents. Among them, 9 people have died. A total of 95 cases of kidnapping have occurred. 35 women and children were trafficked. Among them, 7 people have been sold to brothels.

He said, '406 women and girls have been killed and 22 more have been attempted to be killed for various reasons. 23 maids were tortured. Among them, 10 people were killed. 2 people were forced to commit suicide. 169 people were killed and tortured for dowry. Out of which 80 people have been killed. 125 people have been harassed.

4 people have been forced to commit suicide due to the above. 170 people were forced to commit suicide due to various tortures. 17 people tried to commit suicide. 205 people died mysteriously. 107 people were victims of child marriage. 225 people were physically tortured. There have been 5 cases of illegal fatwa. 7 people were victims of police torture. Apart from this, 147 other cases of torture have occurred,' he said in the statement.
