Locals have expressed their anger over the irregularities and corruption of Mizanur Rahman, the headmaster of Char Basu SESDP High School in Kamalnagar Upazila of Lakshmipur. In protest, parents and students staged a protest and locked the school.

The protest was held on Saturday (November 26) afternoon at the school campus and Char Basu Bazar. After the protest, agitated parents and students threw the headmaster Mizanur Rahman Manik out of the school and locked him up.

The students said that the headmaster has been committing various irregularities including forcing them to read banned guide books (Phulkadi), coaching business, registration, form filling, salary, internal examination fee collection, and embezzlement of stipends and school grants. Due to this, we were forced to protest and lock down the school.

Teachers and locals said that this month, Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla visited the class and found a guide book in the classroom. Accordingly, he asked the headmaster to find out the reason. To hide himself, headmaster Mizanur Rahman put the blame on the school's teacher Mubarak and humiliated him.

Teacher Mubarak said that the headmaster signed a contract of 28 thousand taka with the publication of the banned guide book (Phulkarni). And with the money, he forced the students to read the banned book. But now he is putting the blame on me.

Locals also said that since the school's establishment, headmaster Mizanur Rahman Manik has expressed his anger by highlighting various irregularities including various grants, guide book sales, extra money for form filling, and cooperation in child marriage, and demanded the removal of the headmaster.

A teacher at the school, who did not wish to be named, said that in the past five years, he has not shown any accounts of the school's income and expenditure and has been embezzling money by issuing bill vouchers at will.

The Phulkari (Guide Book) sales representative confirmed and said, "We have an agreement with the principal of Char Basu SESDP High School."

Denying the irregularities, headmaster Mizanur Rahman Manik said, "The school in Charer understood." When asked about the contract for 28,000 taka from the publication of the banned guidebook (Phulkardi), he said, "I have returned the publication money." At that time, he requested not to write about this.
Upazila Secondary Education Officer Ahsan Ullah Chowdhury said that no one has reported this matter yet.
