Sim flowers in Lakshmipur are the light of hope for the farmers

Cultivation of various winter vegetables is becoming popular day by day in Lakshmipur. Farmers are constantly turning to vegetable cultivation as the profit is more than the cost of production. In the current season, various vegetables have been planted on 3 thousand 377 hectares of land in the district. Out of this, 796 hectares of land have been cultivated. Which is about 300 hectares more than last year. Lakshmipur has had a bumper crop of seeds due to favorable weather and timely sowing. Farmers are very happy with this. The officials of the District Agriculture Extension Directorate said that the income from the produced seeds will be around two and a half crores.
According to Lakshmipur Agricultural Extension Directorate, in the current season, 796 hectares of land have been cultivated in this district. Out of this, 350 hectares of land in Sadar, 55 in Raipur, 55 in Ramganj, 250 in Ramgati and 86 hectares in Kamalnagar have been cultivated. 25 maunds per hectare are produced. Which is sold in the wholesale market for 1200 rupees per head.
Apart from this, Gourd is the 2nd place in winter vegetable cultivation in Lakshmipur with 531 hectares of land. Radish 355, red cabbage 350, tomato 221, sweet pumpkin 198, spinach 148, brinjal 148, cabbage 124, cabbage 120, bitter gourd 114, cauliflower 110, horseradish 55, carrot 12, cabbage 5 and other vegetables 99 hectares in total 3 thousand in the district. Winter vegetables have been planted on 377 hectares of land.

Now he is cultivating seeds to get loft covering 48 percent of the land. He has spent 20,000 taka in this cultivation. He expects to earn around 60 thousand rupees from the produced seams. So now this farmer is busy taking care of the bean plant. Farmer Humayun is the son of Sahabbuddin of Talhati village of Laharkandi union of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
He told Top News that along with other vegetable cultivation, the cultivation of beans can be more profitable. After one month of brie seeding, I made a loft in the seam field. After using fertilizers and pesticides, the plants flowered. Seams are also starting to appear in some parts. A good price can be obtained by selling this seam poush and magh wholesale at the rate of Tk 30 to Tk 35 for two months.
Like Humayun, a bean farmer, most of the farmers in the district are more inclined towards bean cultivation along with other vegetables. They are becoming interested in this cultivation as they are more profitable than the cost of cotton in a short period of time.
It is known that it takes three months to cultivate beans (Karthik, Agrahayan, Paush). At the beginning of winter, the soil is fertilized and soybean seeds are sown. Urea, prospect, protus and organic fertilizers are applied as per rules. After a month, when the loft is made, the entire seam field becomes monotonous with vines and leaves. Purple flowers begin to appear on the trees. The flower is the seam. Since then, the sale of improved varieties of domestic seeds has started.
In Laxmipur Sadar Upazila, including Laharkandi, Talhati, Bhabaniganj, Tumchar, Charmansa, Charubhuta, Kalir Char, Piarapur, Dalal Bazar and Nandanpur Union, 5 upazilas of the district are cultivating large amount of beans in the fields.
It can be seen from the surface, field after field in Laharkandi area of Sadar Upazila is filled with flowers. Farmers are providing limited irrigation and seed. Caring for the bean plant. Someone is picking up the seams. Others are producing seeds by planting bushes in the house yard and by sowing seeds on both sides of the village road.
Raja Mia, a bean farmer, said that he has cultivated 37 percent of the land this time with indigenous varieties of beans. In the beginning, the seam was sold in advance and got a good price. Market prices have come down as seasonal seeds start coming into the market. But he hopes to make a profit.
Abdur Rahim, a vegetable seller of Lakshmipur, told Top News that he buys seeds from farmers for 30 rupees and sells them for 40-45 rupees. He is making good profit by selling beans along with other vegetables.
Lakshmipur District Agriculture Extension Directorate Deputy Director Md. Golam Mostafa said that the production of beans among winter vegetables in Lakshmipur district has increased this time. Which is 300 hectares more than last year. According to the advice of the agriculture department, due to timely sowing of seeds and a little maintenance, the production of beans is increasing in the current season. Farmers will benefit a lot from this.
