A week-long tree fair has begun in Lakshmipur with the slogan 'Live in the green, save in the green, decorate the city-life-nature'.
A tree fair was organized on Saturday (July 21) morning at the premises of Lakshmipur Collectorate under the joint initiative of the Forest Department, Department of Agricultural Extension and the district administration. The fair was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Anjan Chandra Pal.
On this occasion, a colorful rally was held around the city. Later, a discussion meeting and distribution of cheques among the beneficiaries were held at the premises of the District Commissioner's office.
District Awami League President Golam Faruk Pinku, Additional Superintendent of Police Riazul Kabir, Assistant Conservator of Forests Md. Mofiq Ullah, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md. Belal Hossain Khan and others were present at the time.
The fair has around fifty stalls selling seedlings of various species of fruit and forest trees. The fair will run from 9 am to 9 pm every day. The fair will end on July 28.
