Laxmipur: Abdur Rahim (45), a battery-operated autorickshaw driver, was killed in Laxmipur after being hit by a passenger bus.
The accident happened on Wednesday (October 10) around 7 pm in Mandari Bazaar of Sadar Upazila.
The deceased Abdur Rahim is the son of deceased Abdul Ali of West Battali village of Upazila Dattapara Union.
Meanwhile, the driver could not be arrested as he fled after the incident. The killer bus is in police custody.
Eyewitnesses said that autorickshaw driver Abdur Rahim was hit by an Anand Paribahan passenger bus on Raipur-Sonapur route in Mandari Bazar. He was seriously injured. Locals rescued him and took him to Sadar Hospital. After seeing the deterioration of the condition, the doctor in charge suggested to send him to Noakhali General Hospital. He died on the way to Noakhali around 9:30 pm.
Chandraganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahjahan Khan said the killer bus is in police custody. But the driver escaped.
