A young man named Riaz Uddin (26) was killed by lightning in Ramgati of Lakshmipur. Today (May 24) on Thursday around 12:30 pm, the incident took place in Boyarchar of Ramgati Upazila.
According to locals, Riyaz Uddin was killed on the spot by a sudden lightning strike while catching prawns in the river. He is the son of Shah Alam of Bayarchar village.
Ramgati Upazila Chairman Principal Abdul Waheed confirmed the matter.
Ramgati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizul Haque said that Riaz Uddin was killed by lightning when he was on the river bank while going fishing.
