A.League's Shamchul Islam won the Zilla Parishad election in Lakshmipur

District Representative:
Awami League nominated candidate Shamchul Islam has won the Laxmipur Zilla Parishad election. He was unofficially elected by receiving 555 votes with the pineapple symbol. His nearest rival Awami League's rebel candidate M Alauddin (Ghora) got 197 votes. District Election Officer Sohel Samad confirmed the matter in the afternoon after counting of votes.
He said that from 9 am to 2 pm, polling was completed in a peaceful environment in 15 polling stations of the district. Awami League supported candidate Shamchul Islam (Pineapple) was elected unofficially by getting 555 votes for the post of chairman.
In addition, the members elected in 15 wards are Zafar Ullah Bhuiyan (lock) in ward number 1, Saikat Mahmud Shamchu (autorickshaw) in ward number 2, Md. in ward number 3. Tafazzal Hossain (electrical fan), ward number 4. Manjur Hossain Sumon (Tubewell), ABM Yahima bin Zakaria Mamun (Tubewell) in Ward No. 5, Md. in Ward No. 6. Arif Hossain (tubewell) Badrul Alam Shyamal (lock) in ward number 7, Belayet Hossain (electric fan) in ward number 8, Md. in ward number 9. Mahbubul Haque (drum), Afzal Hossain Howladar (electric fan) in ward number 10, Alamgir Hossain (lock) in ward number 11, Gias Uddin (lock) in ward number 12, Mosharof Hossain (electric fan) in ward number 13, Md. in ward number 14. Amjad Hossain (lock) and Mujahidul Islam (elephant) in ward number 15.
The reserved members are Samshed Akhter in Ward No. 1, Tahmina Akhter in Ward No. 2, Farida Yasmin Lika in Ward No. 3, Parveen Akhter Salma in Ward No. 4 and Rofena Akhter in Ward No. 5.
It is to be noted that 3 people contested for the post of chairman, 15 people for the post of reserved women members and 67 people for the post of general members. There were 821 total voters in the election. However, although there are 3 contenders for the post of chairman, the rebel candidate of Awami League is the president of Ramganj Upazila Awami League. Shahjahan (helicopter) withdrew from the election on party orders before the polls.
