In Mahadevpur village of Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila, allegations of encroachment of about 4.5 acres of land of Ali Raja Patwari Waqf Estate and embezzlement of mosque money have been made against local influential people. Waqf Estate Treasurer Haji Saif Ulya Master and some worshipers made this complaint in a press conference at Lakshmipur Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.
In his written statement, he said that late Ali Raja Patwari donated 5.49 acres of land for the mosque in 1901. The donated land was included in CS Khatian in 1922 in the name of Ali Raja Patwari Estate Mosque. In 1960, the said land was listed as Waqf. At that time the Waqf administration appointed the petitioner late Azizur Rahman. of which EC No. 14151. After the death of Azizur Rahman, his son Abdur Rob Gangra rejected the waqf and seized 4.45 acres of land by force. On November 22, the Waqf administration approved the 21-member committee of the estate Jame Masjid. In that committee, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi officer was made president and local Noor Alam Patwari was made general secretary.
On December 9, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Nuruzzaman and Lakshmir Waqf Inspector Abdul Quader visited the scene. At that time, the president of the former committee, the secretary and the cashier were ordered to give the accounts of the mosque to the new committee. But without accounting, former committee cashier Abdur Rob and his brother Ashrafur Rahman, Borhan Uddin submitted a new resolution and embezzled about 3 lakh taka from Sonali Bank's Rakhalia Bazar branch on December 15. In the press conference, he sought the intervention of the concerned administration to recover the land of the Waqf estate and the money of the mosque fund.
