Pneumonia and other cold-related diseases have increased among children in Bhola.
According to Bhola Civil Surgeon office sources, a total of 400 children have been admitted to the hospital in the last one month till Friday (July 29). Among them, three children died in Bhola Sadar Upazila and one in Charfaysan Upazila.
At least four children have died in the district in the last one month and more than 400 have been hospitalized, the health department said on Friday.
Bhola Civil Surgeon's office said that out of the four dead children suffering from pneumonia, three are from Bhola Sadar and 1 is from Charfasan upazila.
The health department blamed excessive heat followed by heavy rains for the child deaths and hospitalizations.
Bhola 250-bed hospital children's ward, forced to one bed, multiple patients are receiving treatment. 10 new patients were admitted to the hospital's 30-bed children's ward on Friday. Currently more than half a hundred patients are receiving treatment.
