There may be rain with thunder.

The Meteorological Department has asked the country's seaports to raise local warning signal number three as the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal gradually weakens and crosses the coast.

The department said on Wednesday (May 30) morning that the low pressure formed in the ocean has weakened after crossing the Rakhine coast of Myanmar.

It is now located over central Myanmar as a land depression. It will further weaken as it moves northeastward.

Four seaports have been asked to lower their warning signals as there is no possibility of gale force winds blowing over the northern Bay of Bengal, coastal areas of Bangladesh and seaports.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department had instructed the seaports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra to display local warning signal number three on Tuesday night.

Despite the warning, fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have been asked to proceed with caution until Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department had forecast rain in Chittagong and adjacent coastal areas due to the influence of this low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.

The country's highest temperature was recorded in Dhaka on Tuesday, at 35.4 degrees Celsius. At 6 am, the relative humidity in the air in Dhaka was 84%; in the afternoon it was 63%. As a result, many areas of the country, including the capital, were swelteringly hot, as in the past few days.

However, if the rain increases, the situation may become somewhat bearable in a couple of days, said meteorologist AKM Ruhul Quddus.

Wednesday's weather forecast says that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusts or squally winds and lightning are likely at some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Chittagong divisions and at a few places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country.
