Editors on the streets demanding amendments to the Digital Security Act

The editors of the country's newspapers took to the streets to demand the amendment of nine sections of the newly implemented 'Digital Security Act'.

On Monday (October 15) in front of the National Press Club, the editorial board organized this human bond.

In the program, the editor of the English daily 'Daily Star' and the general secretary of the editorial board Mahfuz Anam said, since the digital security law has been passed, we have been protesting against various sections of the law. We think this law is against free journalism and free media. Sections 8, 21, 25, 28, 29, 31, 32, 43 and 53 of this Act must be amended accordingly in order to protect freedom of press and freedom of speech. We want these amendments to be amended in the next parliamentary session to ensure media freedom and independent journalism.

The General Secretary of the Council of Editors said that the Information Minister of the government said that there is still an opportunity to discuss this law. We welcome this proposal. We also want to discuss. But no farce will be accepted in the name of discussion.
