Lakshmipur, like other parts of the country, is receiving heavy rainfall due to the effects of Cyclone Nada and a deep depression formed in the Bay of Bengal. Farmers are fearing huge losses in this year's Aman paddy harvest due to the rain and strong winds.
It is known that Aman rice farmers were expecting a bumper harvest of Aman rice produced in agricultural lands in most parts of the district. However, due to heavy rainfall and stormy winds, the rice has been destroyed and mixed with the water in the fields. This is threatening the farmers with a loss of crores of taka. On Saturday, while entering the lowlands from Laxmipur city, it was seen that the rice fields in different parts of the crop of each field were broken and mixed with the soil along the road. Farmers Idris, Solaiman, Rahim of Falkon and Patwari Hat Unions of Kamalnagar said that Aman rice has mixed with the water in the fields due to this rain, which will cause extensive damage to the rice.

Locals say that natural disasters like this strike farmers from time to time, leaving them helpless. But somehow, no one comes forward to help after facing this loss.
