Garment workers protest, traffic stop on Badda-Rampura road

Garment workers are protesting by blocking the busy road at Kuril Bishwa Road in the capital. Traffic on both sides of the Badda-Rampura road is closed.

At around 12:15 pm on Thursday, several hundred workers of the local Euro Garment took a position on both sides of the road at Kuril Bishwa Road. They demand payment of arrears.

At that time, when the transport workers called to leave the road, there was a fight with the garment workers. The workers started raising slogans demanding various demands including payment of dues.

The road remained closed till the time of writing this report at 1 pm. Senior police officials rushed to the spot to control the situation.

Bhatar police station ASI Faisal told Jugantar over phone that garment workers are protesting on the road demanding unpaid wages. The assistant commissioner and officer-in-charge went there to remove them from the road.

Bhatara police station OC Mazharul Islam told Jugantar from the spot, "We are trying to evacuate the workers from the road. Hopefully the traffic will resume shortly.
