Hala Raharit, Arabic language spokesperson of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has resigned in opposition to the US's Gaza policy. He confirmed this information himself in a post on social media LinkedIn last Thursday.
In a LinkedIn post, he said, 'I resigned in April 2024 after 18 years of service in the honorable position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The reason for this is the policy of the US government on the Gaza issue.
According to the information on the website of the US Department of State, Hala Raharit was once the deputy director of Dubai Regional Media Hub, an organization included in the ministry. This organization plays a role in building US relations with media outlets in the Arab world. He then joined the US State Department in 2006 as a political and human rights officer and Arabic language spokesperson.
Of course, Hala Raharit is not the first official to resign in protest of US Gaza policy. Annelie Shelin, an official in the US State Department's Bureau of Human Rights, resigned in the same manner last March. Before that, Tariq Habash, the senior official of the United States Ministry of Education, resigned last January.
