Appeal hearing against Khaleda's bail is going on

Appeal hearing against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's bail in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case has started.

On Tuesday morning, lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan started the hearing on behalf of the ACC in the four-judge appellate bench headed by the Chief Justice.

Attorney General Mahbub Alam for the state and Maudud Ahmed, Zamir Uddin Sarkar, Khandkar Mahbub Hossain and Zainul Abedin for Khaleda are present.

Besides, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury were seen in the court premises.

It should be noted that on February 8, the judge of Dhaka Special Judge Court 5. Akhtaruzzaman's court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years of rigorous imprisonment. The same court sentenced six accused including Khaleda Zia and Tariq Rahman to a fine of Tk 2 crore 10 lakh 71 thousand 643 each. Since then, the BNP leader is in the old jail on Nazimuddin Road.
