A mobile court has sentenced four drug addicts to varying terms of imprisonment for consuming marijuana at a gathering in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur.
On Sunday (December 4) afternoon, Kamalnagar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate of the Mobile Court Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla issued the prison sentence.
The convicts are Nur Alam (40), son of the deceased Abul Khair, of Char Kalkini area of the upazila, who was sentenced to 3 months in prison, and Bellal Hossain (20), son of Rafiqul Islam, of the same area, Salah Uddin (25), son of Nurul Islam, and Delwar Hossain (30), son of Abu Taher, of Char Martin, were each sentenced to 15 days in prison.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Hazirhat Police Investigation Center Rezaul Karim said that four drug addicts were arrested while consuming ganja at a party at Nur Alam's house in Char Kalkini area late on Saturday (December 3). When they were produced before a mobile court in the afternoon, one was sentenced to 3 months in prison and the other three to 15 days.
