A factory has been set up at Kamalnagar in Lakshmipur by duplicating the wrappers of Bonful & Co. Sarat Food Products is marketing various products with fake packaging and reg number of BSTI.
This factory has no approval from the Ministry of Health's Sanitary Department, Department of Environment, Department of Narcotics Control, Income Tax Department, BSTI, Ministry of Commerce, yet the products produced in this factory are marketed with the logo of BSTI. There is no production date, period, batch number of the product, but this factory has been built under the nose of the administration and is selling and marketing in Dedarche.
Locals and businessmen said that under the name of Sarat Food Products, they are making low quality food products and selling them using fake logos of Bonful and Number One. Last Friday, when I went to the factory, I saw that these products are being made in a very dirty environment and with low quality raw materials.
Upazila Safety Inspector (Sanitary Inspector) Mizanur Rahman said, Sarat Food Products did not take any approval from us.
In this regard, Gias Ahmed Sarat, the owner of Sarat Food Products, said, I have the approval but could not show it to the reporter. When asked that you are selling the wild flowers by placing the level and wrapping, he said that I have put this level because we distribute some Semai every year during Ramadan. He also said that the administration and government party people cannot do anything with me.
Kamalnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Mahbubul Alam Majumder said that such a fake factory has been established. Will visit soon.
