Many people including children and old people have suffered from diarrhea after eating food at the marriage house of Lakshmipur's Kamalnog. The incident took place at Ali Mistry's house in Charjagabandhu area of Saheber Hat Union of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.
6 critically ill children were admitted to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex and many were treated locally. The victims are Labanya (9), Mehdi Hasan (4), Fahmida (10), Mahi (4), Shahnaz (12), Mizan (17), Abdul Ali (70), Rahima (65), Kamala Begum (62). including many others.
Abu Taher of that house said that he buys curd for his daughter's wedding from the local cowherd Dulal. Diarrhea occurs immediately after consumption of curd.
Locals said that immediately after the incident Dulal gave money. Dulal could not be reached on mobile in this regard.
Dr. Mir Mohammad Aminul Islam Manju, resident physician of the Upazila Health Complex, said that 6 children have been admitted to the hospital. Their condition is improving. An investigation committee has been formed in this regard and the samples of the milk have been sent to the Mohakhali ICDDRB for testing.
