Member of Parliament Abdur Rahman Badir Beyi Aktar Kamal (41) was killed in a 'gunfight' between two groups of drug dealers in Ramu, Cox's Bazar.
According to the police, Kamal is a Yaba businessman listed by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police. There are five cases against him in Teknaf police station.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramu Police Station Liaquat Ali Sikder said that the gunfight took place in the area of bridge number two of Khuniapalang upazila on Friday morning.
Deceased Kamal MP Badi's elder sister is Dewar of Shamsunahar and a member of Ward No. 2 of Sabrang Union in Teknaf.
OC Liaquat Ali Sikder said that this gunfight happened in the early morning around the transaction of Yaba. After receiving the information, the police went to the spot and found Kamal's body. He also said that three thousand pieces of Yaba, domestically made LG and four rounds of cartridges were recovered from the spot.
