Oikya Parishad road march towards Dhaka on January 6-7

Minority Oikya Morcha led by Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad will road march towards Dhaka on January 6 and 7. On the eve of the 11th National Assembly elections, this road march will be held to demand the implementation of the promise to protect the interests and rights of the religious-ethnic minorities and tribal communities announced in the election manifesto of the ruling party Awami League.

The announcement was made at a press conference organized by the Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad at the National Press Club on Wednesday. It is said that Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma (Santu Larma), President of Chattogram Hills Jan Sanhati Samiti (JSS), will inaugurate the road march tomorrow in Chittagong with the slogan 'Let's go to Dhaka, fulfill election promises'. On January 7, supporters from all over the country will gather at Shahbagh Square in Dhaka. Later, the memorandum will be given by marching to the Prime Minister's office.

In a written speech at the press conference, lawyer Rana Dasgupta, general secretary of Oikya Parishad and coordinator of minority Oikya Morcha, said that they have been continuing the agitation since the beginning of this year to demand the implementation of the election promises of the government party. In the fourth phase of this movement, a road march towards Dhaka will be organized from the remote areas of the country. He said, ahead of the 12th National Assembly elections to be held in early 2024, a voice that 'Khela Hoba' is being played in the political field is being repeated among the major parties. This sound alarmed the religious-ethnic minorities of this country.

Prof. Nimchandra Bhowmik, one of the presidents of Oikya Parishad, Presidium members Lawyer Subrata Chowdhury, Kajal Debnath, Joint General Secretary Manindra Kumar Nath, Jayant Kumar Dev, Rabindranath Basu, Organizing Secretary Padmavati Devi, Uttam Chakraborty and Supriya Bhattacharya also spoke in the press conference.
