From National Parliament Building:
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that there will be a solution regarding MPO inclusion of schools and colleges within the next one month. He said, exactly how many educational institutions will be included in the MPO depends on the availability of funds. However, the final decision regarding the MPO membership will come within the next month.
The minister said this in response to a supplementary question by Awami League member of Parliament Akh M Jahangir Hossain (Patuakhali-3) during the question and answer session of the 22nd session of the National Assembly on Sunday (September 17) afternoon. Earlier at 5:30 PM Speaker Dr. The day's agenda started with Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury presiding.
The minister said, we have already asked to apply online with certain conditions for joining the MPO. We have always been asking the finance minister for allocation. This time the Finance Minister has agreed. However, it is not yet known how much money will be given.
The Education Minister said that the approval of the Ministry of Finance is required to include schools and colleges under the MPO. Because those who work, the salary they get when they retire, the new ones who come will also get the same salary. It is a permanent thing. We have applied to the Ministry of Finance. How much money we can get from the Ministry of Finance will depend on how many MPOs will be included. But a solution will be done by next month.
In response to another supplementary question of Begum Sanjida Khanam, the minister said that districts which do not have government schools and colleges will be govt. However, where schools and colleges have already been governmentised, there is no plan to re-government schools and colleges.
