The discussion is good, but I did not get a solution: Dr. Kamal

Dhaka:

Dr. Kamal Hossain, the founder of the Jatiya Oikya Front and the President of the Gono Forum, said that no specific solution could be found in the dialogue without permission for meetings and gatherings.

He made this announcement at a crowded press conference at his residence at 7 Bailey Road on Thursday (November 1) at 12:45 am. Leaders of other allied parties of the front were present at the time.

Dr. Kamal Hossain said, we had a dialogue with the Prime Minister. We were there for three hours. We talked about many things. The leaders presented everyone's complaints and statements. After listening to everyone, the Prime Minister gave a very long speech. However, we did not get any specific solution there.

"Only what he (the Prime Minister) said about the meetings and gatherings was a good thing." Later, Gano Forum leader Subrata Chowdhury read out a written summary of the dialogue.

The party's executive president Subrata Chowdhury said, "First, our leader Dr. Kamal Hossain presented a written statement before the Prime Minister. Then, the BNP Secretary General presented seven-point demands. Other leaders of the National Unity Front also presented statements on our behalf."

"The Prime Minister said that there will be no restrictions on political programs, including meetings and rallies, across the country, including Dhaka. No obstacles will be placed on political parties to hold meetings wherever they want. He has already given instructions to cooperate with law enforcement agencies."

He said, "Regarding political cases, the (Prime Minister) said, 'Please provide a list of cases and missing persons cases of political leaders and activists. I will definitely consider it so that there is no harassment.'"

Subrata Chowdhury also mentioned that 'the Prime Minister said that discussions on the demands raised will continue in the future.'

When asked whether there has been any discussion on Khaleda Zia's release, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "There has been discussion on this matter. He (the Prime Minister) did not say anything specific. He said, there may be further discussions on these issues in the future."

Is BNP optimistic about this? When asked, Fakhrul said, "I have already said that I am not very satisfied with this matter."

When asked whether the election schedule will be announced before the dialogue is resolved, Mirza Fakhrul said, "We have talked about the schedule. He (the Prime Minister) said that they do not have the authority to give the schedule. The Election Commission will decide that."

In this case, what will be the program of the Oikya Front? In response, Fakhrul said, "The program that our Oikya Front had will continue."

When asked further questions, Mirza Fakhrul pointed to Dr. Kamal and said, "He will speak overall."

What did you get from the dialogue? In response to the question, the BNP Secretary General said, "Everything is always achieved, right?" At this stage, JSD leader ASM Abdur Rab said, "Everything cannot be achieved in one day."

Then Dr. Kamal Hossain said, we got the opportunity for dialogue. We have told him (the Prime Minister) our story. He has heard it. He has said his words, we have heard a little of what is on his mind.

Then ASM Abdur Rab said, "You have heard the words of Sir. We have given a 7-point program. It is the responsibility of the government to accept or not. We have given our program and our movement will continue on this."

BNP Standing Committee member Jamir Uddin Sarkar, Gono Forum's Jaglul Haider Afrik and other leaders were present at the press conference.

The dialogue lasted for three and a half hours, from 7 pm to a little after 10:30 pm. Dr. Kamal Hossain led a 20-member delegation of the Oikyafront in the dialogue.

The Jatiya Oikya Front, which demanded the dissolution of parliament, the release of Khaleda Zia, and the holding of the 11th parliamentary election under a neutral government, called for dialogue on October 28. In this context, the dialogue was held at Ganabhaban on Thursday.
