The owner of social media X and the chief executive officer (CEO) of electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Musk, has suddenly gone on a visit to China. He arrived in China's capital Beijing suddenly on a private plane on Sunday. News of Elon Musk's visit to China came a week after India's visit was postponed.
Lok Sabha elections in India have started from April 19. Meanwhile, Elon Musk was scheduled to visit India on April 21. During the visit, he was scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hold initial discussions on Tesla's investment in India. But a day before the scheduled time, Elon said in an X message that the trip to India unfortunately had to be postponed due to a mountain of work at Tesla. But I am looking forward to visit India later this year.
He is meeting with senior Chinese officials in Beijing to discuss the launch of Tesla's driverless technology (FSD) electric vehicle using Chinese software. Elon Musk will also discuss with Chinese officials permission to transfer data collected in China to train algorithms to improve self-driving technology.
In a message to X, Musk said that Tesla will soon start supplying FSD to Chinese users. British news agency Reuters reported that since 2021, according to the terms of Chinese regulators, Tesla has stored all the data collected on its Chinese fleet in Shanghai and has not transferred it to the United States.
The American electric car maker launched FSD, the most advanced version of the Autopilot software, four years ago. Tesla has yet to do so despite requests from Chinese customers to launch it. And Elon Musk has so hurriedly flown to Beijing to discuss that matter.
Meanwhile, a political debate started in India over the postponement of Elon Musk's visit to India. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Musk himself has read the writing on the wall. In fact, the Tesla boss will come from far away. Come and meet an outgoing Prime Minister. It looked very bad. According to another Congress leader, American industrialists avoided meeting Modi knowing his defeat.
