The ruling Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has welcomed the decision of all parties, including the BNP, to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He said that the election will be held in a democratic environment.
Sheikh Hasina said this at the beginning of the party's parliamentary board meeting at the Awami League's political office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Sunday (November 11) afternoon. The party president said that suitable nominees of Awami League will be given candidature in the 300 seats.
The distance between the ruling party and the political parties was showing regarding the elections. In this context recently Dr. The Jatiya Oikya Front was formed under the leadership of Kamal Hossain, including BNP-Gano Forum.
Although the BNP under the Awami League government did not participate in the elections held on January 5, 2014, it is heard that the Oikya Front is going to the polls after several dialogues with the ruling party. Oikya Front made seven demands to the government to participate in the elections, but the government rejected some of them. At the end of this negotiation, Oikya Front made an official announcement to go to the elections in a press conference on Sunday afternoon. On the other hand, another alliance of 20 parties led by BNP also decided to participate in the polls
