Twenty million children will receive vitamin A capsules on Saturday

As part of its efforts to eradicate blindness and night blindness, the government will provide vitamin A capsules to more than 20 million children this year through the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign. The service will be provided completely free of charge at 140,000 service centers across the country.

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek gave this information at a press conference at the Secretariat on Thursday. He said that they have made preparations to feed vitamin 'A' capsules to 21 million children this time. He requested all children aged six months to five years to be brought to the service centers.

The state minister said that the program will run from 8 am to 4 pm on that day in over a lakh centers. All children aged six to 11 months will be given one blue vitamin 'A' capsule and all children aged 12-59 months will be given one red vitamin 'A' capsule.

The State Minister said that the campaign activities will be conducted through 120,000 permanent centers and an additional 20,000 mobile centers across the country.

The State Minister also said that the mobile centers will be located at various bus stands, launch piers, ferry piers, bridge toll plazas, airports, railway stations, marinas, etc. At least three trained volunteers will be on duty at each center.

This vitamin is administered throughout the country at a specific time every year. Last year, 21.5 million children were served under this program.
